How Idea Manager Works
Idea Manager is a Web based application that can be installed on your server or your organization can access to Idea Manager via a private secure area on our servers.

Idea Manager Functionality
Idea Manager has two distinct service areas; users and administrative. The user service area allows users to access all the features of Idea Manager. Two options are available for the user area.  One is very simple for use when you want to conduct an "idea sweep" and collect ideas from customers, sales representatives, manufacturing staff, etc.  The other user area is quite robust and allows users to enter highly detailed idea information. 

The administrative service area allows your organization's designated administrator to manage administrative tasks such as adding users, choosing user interfaces, editing ideas, etc.

The Administrator can...

Establish unique user passwords for access and security

Add or delete users, change passwords, control user's ability to print documents and control user's ability to alter financial information for their Manager

The administrator can change financial labels, idea category labels, and idea status labels to customize Idea Manager for your organization

Training overheads are provided when you license Idea Manager so you can quickly and easily train your people how to use Idea Manager.  Onsite training in the concept of Idea Management is also available.

An online help menu guides users through any questions they might have about how to use Idea Manager.

Technical Questions
Where is our data stored? 
Data is stored on The Idea Management Group’s server in a secured database, or on your servers if you install Idea Manager locally.

What is the “uptime” of your servers? 
 Data is available 24/7 – Occasionally we may need to schedule site/server maintenance, which we try to do at more convenient business, times (i.e. Sunday morning at 3am)

How is our data backed up on your servers? 
Our servers are backed up nightly on tape. 

What type of servers do you store Idea Manager on? 
NT Servers running IIS 

How secure is our data on Idea Manager? 
We are using NT Security, if a more secure setup is required we use a SSL (Secure Certificate) 

If we decide to end our use of Idea Manager how do we get our data back? 
We will export all data to text export files within two days of cancellation assuming your account is fully paid. 

Licensing Questions
How many users can access Idea Manager? 
Unlimited users may use Idea Manager for each license. 

If more than one department wants to use Idea Manager do we need a separate database? As many departments within your organization as you want can use Idea Manager.  However, if you want to limit access to particular ideas, concepts or projects, by specific team or department, each team or department will require it’s own Idea Manager database and therefore separate license. 

Customization Questions
Can Idea Manager be used on our Intranet?  
Yes as long as you have an IIS/PWS installed to host the Application/DB

Can we modify Idea Manager for our company?
For an extra fee, Idea Manager can be modified to include different graphics and labels.
